Decisions, Decisions.

I have to make a decision over whether or not to splurge on an e-reader or not. I have my eye on a Cooler Ebook but as I don't work at the moment the money isn't there. I start a part time job in September and hubby suggested I put a bit aside each week then have money for my birthday in November and buy one. I'm extremely impatient though and would like (for "would like" read "want") one now.

I've tried winning one and that hasn't worked lol.

We adopted our children last year (I had to stop working to have them as the company's family friendly policy stopped being family friendly) and they have never really had a lot so I would like to spend my wages on them. I'm torn. Is it selfish to spend nearly £200 on myself when my littlies haven't had the toys I'd like them to have? Advice in the comments box below please.

That's a good question... and the answer is I don't think it is selfish, as long as you don't deny them love and attention I don't believe there is any toy in the world that can replace that. I believe deep down you know the answer, but you are experiencing the Mother's guilt... :)
Follow your heart and there is nothing wrong in getting something that you really want if that makes you happy!

No i don't think that is selfish at all. I'm sure your children wouldn't mind you indulging yourself now and again as i am sure they are indulged all the time maybe not with material objects but with much much more important things like love, cuddles, stories, crafting, baking, spending quality time with them those things are just priceless and unfortunately some people don't even bother to do these things with their children they just stick them in front of the tv all day then bundle them off to bed so don't think of it as £200 on yourself that is depriving your kids think of it as a £200 treat from the children for being such a fantastic mum and giving them such a wonderful childhood that will stay with them forever and shape the great adults they will one day become

I don't think you are being selfish. It's not like you are going to keep on spending the same amount of money over and over again. Look at it this way... You can buy them more toys with the money that you save buying ebooks instead of paper back books. :D You will love your e-reader!

I agree with everyone else, this would not be a selfish purchase. I'm sure there are plenty of "uncles and aunts" who would happily treat your kids :) (And I know that's not what you're asking for).

I want an ereader too, but only because it's a new shiny booky gadget! I'm not sure if I will like it once I have it as I really love reading books the good old fashioned way. It's a lot of money to splash out if I find it irritating. If you really want one though I say go for it, we only like once and life is all about enjoying the good things. Let me know how you get on! :)

Save up for Crimbo ... then you can treat yourself and the kiddywinks at the same time without feeling guilty.
